After match comments
Assistant coach of the team Turkey Tamer Sivrikaya:
– We played better in the first half today. Weariness appeared by the end of the match, but our substitutions haven't brought the result we wished and couldn't improve the game. I don't want to discuss the two penalty kicks appointed in our gates, but I can agree that during the last 10 minutes we lost our concentration. We've played several matches in Turkey already and this was the fourth game at the tournament, so it's natural that the guys are exhausted. They didn't relax when the score was 3:1, the reason of impairing the game by the end was that the substitutions were not effective. We aimed today to entertain the spectators, not to win the match.
Head coach of the team Belarus Andrey Pyshnik:
- This match can be divided into two different parts. I'm very thankful to my guys that they could improve the game. Some players became too self-confident after the match with Belgium. That could impact the quality of the game so after a serious conversation I had to substitute some of them. In the second half the team played very well.
The penalty shootout is an unpredictable lottery and a lot depends on the players' psychological state of mind. So let's just think we were unlucky today.
